Moab!!!

*Beware, A lot of photos and journaling

We went to Moab again this year for spring break. We had a blast!!  Mikes parents and Mel and the kids came too. It was so fun!!! The kids only had just a few "I want to beat you" moments but for the most part they were so good and had so much fun with each other. We were there 9 days so here is the run down...

Here we all are!! Well most of us anyway. Grammy was super sick so she stayed in the house the whole week. We sure missed her.

Here is pretty Mel and her very pretty but very dirty jeep. She named her Jeep Rubigrl for the Rubicon. I thought that was so stinkin cute!!  Everyone on the trails were loving her and her jeep. She definitely got a lot of attention for her jeep and for her guts to go on all the hard stuff. She seriously ROCKS!

Some seriously cute pictures

Saturday:7 Mile Rim
This was the first trail of the week. We got there late friday night and had to turn around and get up so super early for this trail. All the trails we had to leave the house by 730 so they were all early mornings but this one I was for sure tired. Anyway. This was Mel's first trail. It was kinda fun. She did so so good. Everyone was really impressed with her. We had never been on this trail. It was actually a really fun fun trail. Probably one of my favs for the week. There was this scary dip they call "wipeout hill" it was really scary. The pictures I have doesn't do it justice. Only 4 people went on it out of 40. Thats how crazy it was. There was a girl that did it. She almost rolled. It was scary looking. Mikes dad was doing it. So I was looking at him. I ran back to our jeep to get my camera and found Mike nose down starting to do it!  I didn't know he was doing it. I started yelling "Michael Grimmett, Michael Grimmett" It scared me so bad that he was doing it. But he actually did with flying colors. Not even a scratch or a slide or skid. My honey is the man. And for the rest of the trip he teased me and was saying "Michael Grimmett" in my motherly tone all week.  It was a really fun day and trail.

Sunday:Conference
Conference was great this year as it always is. Mel and I gathered the kids and watched. We made a game for them to play. We wrote down 6 words and every time they heard the word they wrote a tally and when they had 5 they got a M&M. They loved it.  There was one talk that I really loved. I think everyone loved it. It was by Elder Rasband. He talked about children with ailments and their parents. He said “A perfect body is not required to achieve a divine destiny. In fact, some of the sweetest spirits are housed in frail frames. …Of course I couldn't stop thinking of my Kai baby and Tom and Cari. It was a really emotional talk for me I couldn't even imagine how it was for her. So I sent her a text saying "thinking about you" she replied "thanks baby sister. "  I started thinking so much about Kai in the talk. Thinking about what a joy he is in this family and what on earth Ill do when he leaves. Then all the sudden Cari sends me this "Kai just told Tom, when I die Im going to crush you in golf"  I just started to cry so hard. I had to run up stairs. I just cant imagine Kai ever leaving me. But I know his time is fewer and fewer. So I just had a freak out moment.  My sister in law Melanie came and to see if I was ok. She even hugged me...shes not a hugger at all. It meant a lot to me.
After the first session we went to walk around some shops then came home to watch the last half. It was wonderful.
Later that day Mike and Mel went and found a cool store and bought a ton of things for their jeep. It was really cute to see them so excited.

Monday:Rose Garden Hill
This trail was scary!!  Well just at the end. It was a gorgeous ride for the most part. It had snowed...it was gorgeous. There were a few iffy parts. There was one that was so bad that Mike had to be winched out. He was the 4th one. Because it had been raining and snowing it was just all mud. And it was soft and no one could over it. So Mike finally got out and no one else went that way. It was impossible to get up after that.  Then we get to the hill. It didnt look so bad. YA RIGHT!!! It was the scariest thing I have ever seen. I didn't get very many good pics, I got a video but that was all. I was so freaked out that something bad was going to happen. There were these 2 parts, right next to each other that were so dang hard to go over and if you tried to hard or to fast to get over it you would roll and just behind you was a 200ft cliff. Im not lying when I say I pooped my pants. I gave myself diarrhea and then at one point it came out a little. Gross I know but let me tell you it was so scary. Mel did it too. Tom went up first, then Mike then Mel. If it was me I would have said Daddy you have to do this for me. But nope, she did it. She eared "Queen Melanie" after that. It was great the rest of the week though bragging that we did that. It was a level 6 trail but because of all the snow and how wet and ruined it was it was way more like a 7 or 8. But all in all the trail was super fun.

Tuesday:Hell's Revenge
Mikes Birthday
This trail is for sure super scary. Its not death defying scary off cliffs but it is certainly roll over scary. The beginning of the trail is the best and most scary and I didn't get any pics because I was closing my eyes the whole time. It was Mikes birthday. Mel was kind enough to get him some cupcakes and cookies. We played frisbee and climbed some fun rocks!

Wednesday: Fins and Things
This was definitely one of my favs. The scenery was so beautiful. And it was just a fun trail. Lots of crawling and not so much scary. There were a few hard obstacles but it was so fun. At one point I got in Mels jeep. We were laughing and singing. Then all the sudden we were going up this scary really steep hill. I got freaked out and started singing I am a child of God and what am I doing here. :) Then there was this hill you go over. Most people opted to go around. The trail boss said it was like this other trail called "chicken corner" well it was nothing like chicken corner. So I got on the CB for everyone to hear and said we need to rename that. So the trail boss got on and said we "I think this should be called Ruby Girl ledge, this girl had done everything this week, including all the hard stuff, Ive been really impressed with her, good job Ruby Girl." It was so cool to hear him say that. Mel was on cloud nine.  We had a blast. I can't wait to do it again next year. That night we took the kids swimming. Of course they loved it.

Thursday: Kane Creek
This was a really really hard scary trail so we all stayed home except Mike and his dad. The rest of us just sat around and didn't do much of anything. We went to a few vendors and scoped things out. When they got home we went around to a few places. Mike got his CB fixed which he was so excited about.

Friday: EXPO
This is one of my most favorite things to do is go to the Expo. Its where all the vendors come and show off the latest and greatest. I find it so fascinating. There is so much  you can do to the jeep. Mel found some really cool people who want to use her ever so cool jeep as a demo and put ruby red skid plates on. So cool!!  We found a table to put on the back door. Mike really really wants the new teraflex axel...well see. :) We got some free stuff from the GenRight guys. The picture below is of Aden, he put the sticker on his own shirt, it looks like it belongs, we need to send it to them for an idea, it looks awesome!  After we were done we went to Pasta Jays for dinner and ate ourselves sick! But it was so yummy and a very fun day!

Saturday:We left.
We went to Cedar and stayed and drove home Sunday morning. We did go to Cracker Barrel in St George for Easter Breakfast. It was really yummy food. Mel and I hugged goodbye, I was really sad for it all to end. Next year...
