We have had the longest, most stressful, hardest, craziest few weeks. Jeremys school has not been a good one for him this year. We thought a charter school would be good for him but I'm not sure this one was. It has been a nightmare over the last few years at this school. We had high hopes for it but it has just not been good. They just don't have the resources to help kids with IEP's. We got this new principle the end of last year and we thought it was going to be a good thing but not so much. Its such a long, exhausting story so I won't write it all down but the jist is that this principle was not on his team at all. She was mean and not willing to find any solutions. Jeremy has autism and needs certain accommodations and help and she wasn't willing to do any of it. Neither were the teachers. We were all alone to fight for him and let me tell you the fighting was getting big. I was fighting with teachers and staff to do their job everyday. I was getting nasty phone calls and emails daily about Jeremy. And 90% of the time it wasn't that he was doing anything wrong, he just has autism. Well the last two weeks he has been suspended for the dumbest reasons. And this week he got suspended for grabbing a kids arm. When his special Ed teacher but his arm around Jeremys neck and started to choke him. He was so scared! I told Mike there is no way I can bare to send him back there. There is no one on his team, no one is there to help him. So we had to do something fast! So with a lot of prayer I decided to call Thurman White. I talked to the head of the Special Ed department there and she was so kind and amazing! I felt such peace while taking to her. So as Mike and I have talked over the last few days we have officially decided to remove him from Pinecrest and send him to Thurman. I truly think this will be best for him. They have an amazing Special Ed program there and a lot more resources to help kids with IEP's. We just want whats best for that sweet special boy of ours. Im praying this is going to be a great experience for him.
So thats the latest with Jer. Fingers crossed.
