Birthday dinner at Giada's
So Giada is one of my most favorite chefs ever. (Sweet Kelsey Nixon is the other) Giadas show on the Food Network has seriously taught me to cook. Yes I was a 34 year old who couldn't cook. So over the last year I have watched all her shows and made most of her recipes. So when I heard that her restaurant was opening on June 3rd and reservations were now being scheduled I thought I have to go! Im pretty sure I was the first one to call and make a reservation. It was Caris birthday June 4th and Amy's birthday June 6th so what better way to celebrate their birthdays than to go to dinner at Giadas. Im just super excited about this so I decided we needed to make it a whole day thing. I made a cake which I acutely made and brought to suzanne for her birthday so I made one for Cari and Amy also. Then I scheduled a makeup session at the new Nars store. I wanted us to feel like a million bucks. Then we would go to dinner. So that whole day was a long crazy day but so fun! I dropped Suzannes cake off to her then came home and showered and got ready and was to Caris with their cake by 2:45. It was Jeremys last day of school so he was out at noon. When I got to Caris we ate cake and headed out to get our makeup done. I was so happy we went. We all looked so good! They did a great job. We were done a little early so we went to our reservation an hour early but they took us anyway. I was in aww of her restaurant. It looked so gorgeous!! She had a photo booth there to use for free as you wait for your table!! How cute is that! We were seated and we just sat and looked all around at all the details of the restaurant. I think my favorite thing was how she had "a little bit of everything, not a lot of anything" etched on the light drums. That is her mantra and I love It! Ive adapted it and say it all the time. We had so many people come by and check on us, making sure the food was good and the service was good. The food was out of this world. I had the filet mignon. Holy crap it was so tender and juicy and melt in your mouth. Cari had homemade tortellini pasta that was so delish and Amy has salmon that she said was her favorite. The appetizers were so good we were dying. Well as we were eating the guy who ran the restaurant for her came by to see how everything was and if we were ok. We started chatting with him and telling him how Giada was my favorite. Amy and Cari were so funny, telling him Im a stalker fan and watch her all the time. He said his wife was too. Then he said he would make sure Giada came by to meet us. ...what...really...I was dying. Sure enough just as we were done eating here she came down the ramp...looking absolutely gorgeous in her chef jacket. She talked with the guy for a bit then came to our table. I WAS DYING!! She stayed and talked with us for a while. She wasn't in a hurry to leave and didn't see put out at all about talking with us. She was so sweet and funny and just awesome!! I told her how I just resinated with her show so much and loved her style. Amy told her how much we loved the basil lemonade. Amy said my friend Jen here thinks she knows how to make it. I just said "If I know Giada like I think I do its just basil infused simple syrup with fresh squeezed lemon juice" Giada got a huge smile on her face and high fived me!! It was the best moment ever! Amy took a picture with she and I. Well I guess as Amy was taking the picture her people were taking a picture of me with Giada and posted it on her twitter and Instagram account!! I about died! It was the best!!! I felt like it was by birthday or something. Giada was so amazing she brought 2 different desserts out for Amy and Cari's birthday. Super nice of her. It was seriously the best night ever!!!!
